Introducing Web Patterns

When creating web pages, designers, developers, interaction, usability and HCI specialists at some point, come across re-occuring problems with a site and/or its features. When these problems take similar forms, time and again, they can be refered to as patterns.

The great thing about recognising a problem pattern, is that once addressed, can be fixed over and over, by one pattern solution.

To read more about patterns I recommend following the links below:

Hypermedia Design Patterns Repository

Martijn van Welie: Interaction Design Patterns
A large well arranged collection of user interaction design patterns for web, GUI, and mobile device's UI. Good resource!

Jenifer Tidwell: Common Ground -- A Pattern Language for HCI Design
This work looks at web user interfaces and a web site's information architecture.

Mark L. Irons: Patterns for Personal Web Sites
Recommended reading! These are distilled qualities of the best personal Web sites into a set of patterns. These patterns can be used as guidelines for creating a personal Web site.
